We do not always receive actual photo passes but if we do we attempt to keep them them. Sometimes we just get escorted to a designated shooting area by the house without any physical pass or other times we wear the lament from the venue. Regardless …without some form of identification as an approved photographer we can expect someone to ask for credentials. I have been shooting since 2010 and things have changed. Three songs no flash has always been the norm but it is slowly changing to variations from 2 songs, 1 song or the first 10 minutes. Also we can no longer plant my self directly below the stage or lean on the stage in smaller theater environments thus is reserved for pits. Most artists in smaller venues have been requiring us not to be seen and remain at the back of the house. All of this just means more creative angles and timing of shooting. The use of more powerful lenes as well as bodies like the Nikon D600, D800 help.
Enjoy browsing the photo passes. If you attended the show let us know we would love to hear from you.
About the Author
George Burrows
Concert photography was a natural progression for George given his familiarity of the music industry as a veteran concert goer.
George grew up in central Iowa in and around Des Moines. His early musical influences were Errol Garner, Ella Fitzgerald Dave Brubeck and Duke Ellington. George credits his mother's appreciation of jazz as his introduction and appreciation of progressive music. He was introduced to the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964.
At 14 George began to embrace rock music and attend concerts. The 1969 Denver Pop Festival at Mile High Stadium in Denver Colorado was George's first rock festival. It was here that many of his musical preferences were born. He was introduced to The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Frank Zappa & The Mothers, Iron Butterfly , Tommy Bolin with Zepher, and Johnny Winter.
In December 2010 George began iamnotjerry.com after attending the Wanee Festival in 2009 where he was frequently asked if he was Jerry Garcia. His response, " I am not Jerry."

My Dad went to the Tom Petty/Drive By Truckers show in Chicago, he’d seen them both before and said Tom Petty was incredible but he felt that somehow DBT was off. I dunno, I wasn’t there, but I find it hard to believe.
I was in the pit for the 1st three songs of DBT and Tom Petty. DBT sounded good up close, but once I left the pit the sound/mix deteriorated. That was not the case with Tom Petty however.
